Mylene Alberto, APN, has been a psychiatric and mental health nurse for twenty-five years. She is board certified in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Mylene completed the accelerated nursing program at Seton Hall University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She received her master’s degree in Mental Health Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Degree from New York University. During her time at NYU, she was selected by the College of Nursing faculty as the Distinguished Student in recognition of excellence in the Advanced Practice Nursing in the Mental Health program. Mylene also completed an internship at Bellevue Hospital, further enhancing her clinical experience.
Mylene worked in a large independent private practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, assessing and diagnosing mental health issues and providing psychotherapeutic and pharmacotherapeutic interventions. She served as a Clinical Nurse Educator at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center, where she taught research-based stress management workshops for nurses. She chaired committees at Columbia University Medical Center and developed programs to improve patient care and experience. Mylene was a nurse practitioner for the Consultation Liaison Service in the Department of Psychiatry at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. She also served as nurse manager of the inpatient psychiatric unit at Hackensack University Medical Center for 14 years, holding leadership and educator roles. There, she worked on obtaining disease-specific certification for depression from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and designed and taught a stress management module for nurses. My goal is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to each individual's unique needs.
