More about Dr. Natalya Chernichenko, MD, FACS
Dr. Chernichenko serves as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology and Chief of Head and Neck Surgery. Her clinical expertise lies in the diagnosis and management of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including salivary gland, thyroid and parathyroid, oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, sinuses, skull base and skin. Her goal is to provide patients with advanced surgical care for head and neck cancer with an emphasis on quality-of-life issues. Dr. Chernichenko earned her undergraduate degree at New York University and her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Following a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dr. Chernichenko pursued additional Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Fellowship training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Chernichenko’s research interest is focused on exploring the molecular mechanisms of nerve invasion by human carcinomas with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets. She is a recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the American Head and Neck Society.

I had done my thyroidtomy on at Lenox Hill Hospital with Dr. Chernichenko on October 19, 2018.
After the surgy, I felt a little dizzy because of the anesthetic, I could drink liquid without chocking. I ate cold, soft food for two days. Then solid food at the 3rd day.
I stayed in the hospital overnight for observation, nurses were great too. My scar looks nice and narrow even just the next day.
I am taking Levothyroxine 100 MCG, returned to work after 3 weeks, not feeling any tiredness, no hair loss, not gaining or losing weight, no any symptoms. Feels the same just the like before I had done the surgery.
When I worried, had questions, I called the doctors clinic or sent emails, Dr. Chernichenko always answered my questions and helped solved my problems. I feel that is a great support! Very good doctor, I recommend.

Dr. Chernichchenko was very professional in both her prognosis and bedside manner. She went over the possibilities that may be causing my problem and to rule them out, she suggested I have some test taken and that we'd discuss what would be best in correcting my problem.
May I also add, that her office is very clean and her staff, both front and back office were very polite, professional as well as efficient.
I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Chernichenko.
