More about Dr. Neil Bockian, PhD

I help people to improve their lives by building on strengths, teaching new skills, and increasing self-awareness. By carefully listening to you, and understanding both your situation and who you are, I tailor an approach based on your unique needs. I have 20+ years of clinical experience. My primary expertise is with personality and personality disorders, having written three books in these areas. In addition, special training in behavioral medicine lets me help people who have medical conditions reduce their symptoms, and cope with physical problems. As a professor, I keep up-to-date on leading-edge ideas and techniques. For example, neurofeedback (biofeedback on brainwave activity) complements psychotherapy, and is very effective for people with ADHD, pain, headaches, anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. I am highly experienced with cognitive-behavioral therapy, hypnosis, and mindfulness. I do productive consultations with families of people with personality disorder - for example, parents of someone with borderline personality disorder. Although I have learned many skills and techniques, I know that the heart of psychotherapy will always be the relationship that I have with each of my clients. Intermittently, my practice becomes full. In that case, I do an intake and refer you to one of the therapists within my practice, so that you still have access to the range of services we provide. In such a situation, I will call you to make sure that that arrangement meets your needs prior to the intake.

Negligent and unethical. I came looking for help and left with more trauma. Does more harm than good.

Great. Dr. Bockian is helpful when it comes to responding to my concerns. I always feel comfortable and understood during our interactions.
Dr. Bockian continually finds/researches cutting edge tools to help me heal/cope/deal with my TBI/PTSD. He is kind in his delivery and approach. He has been patience, supportive and effective throughout my care which has been complicated by other unexpected factors in my life. I am so grateful that he has continued to support me through the worst of times. Neurofeedback has given me hope and the progress I have made so far has reassured me that I will regain my life/lifestyle/health. after each session, I have experienced quantitative and noticeable changes for the best.
