His office is incredibly professional and super efficient. I was able to be seen very quickly and then also schedule a followup test and visit literally in minutes without any pushback or delay. His assistant was also delightful and the X-ray technician cracked a few jokes to make me more comfortable.

Dr. Nilpesh M. Patel is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist and elbow surgery. Dr. Patel, a North Carolina native, joined Lakewood Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in 2010.
Dr. Patel has a special interest in hand, wrist and elbow surgery including sports related injuries, fracture treatment of the upper extremity, Dupuytren's contracture, traumatic conditions including tendon repairs and reconstruction as well as nerve related conditions.
Dr. Patel graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000 with a degree in Political Science and Chemistry. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina receiving his medical degree in 2004. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia and completed a five year residency in orthopaedic surgery at Emory University. With an interest in hand and upper extremity surgery, he moved across the country for specialized training at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He completed the prestigious fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery before joining Lakewood Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.

He explained everything about his diagnosis to me thoroughly and concisely and detailed my near and long term options; showed me my x-rays and told me what surgery would or would not do, and then let me select the option with which I was most comfortable, which is what a physician is supposed to do.
