Dr. Nisha Shah, MD, FAAO is a board certified ophthalmologist and cornea and refractive surgery specialist practicing in Houston, Texas. She graduated from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Biology and earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) with Honors in Research Distinction from the Univ of Miami Miller School of Medicine. During Medical school, she underwent a yearlong research fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in refractive surgery and ocular oncology. After her internship in Internal Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans, Dr. Shah completed a 3 year residency in Ophthalmology followed by a Surgical Fellowship in Cornea, External Ocular Diseases, and Refractive Surgery at the world renown University of Southern California, Roski Eye Institute in Los Angeles. She is one of a handful of ophthalmologists in the country that is fellowship trained in LASIK and PRK. Dr. Shah has over 15 peer reviewed publications in the field of ophthalmology and has given numerous presentations at national conferences. Dr. Shah has extensive training in astigmatism and presbyopia correcting technology and is proud to offer the latest advancements in the field of cataract surgery. As a refractive surgery specialist, she also performs all-laser LASIK and Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) using the WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser and the WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Excimer Laser. Furthermore, she is skilled in the treatment of dry eye, pterygium, glaucoma (medical and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other eye diseases. Dr. Shah takes pride in providing conservative, ethical care.
