Dr. Nona Kocher, MPH, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist licensed in both Florida and New York. At this time she only offers virtual appointments. Dr. Kocher earned her Bachelor of Arts from Bryn Mawr College. She earned her master’s of public health at University of California, Berkeley. She earned her medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in psychiatry at Albany Medical College in New York. During her training, Dr. Kocher worked extensively with young adults suffering from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and schizophrenia, and veterans suffering from PTSD, utilizing medication management and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr. Kocher also engaged in research why patients have difficulties attending appointments.
Dr. Kocher provides nonjudgmental, compassionate, and in-depth treatment that involves thoroughly listening to each patient, thus getting to know and understand each patient on a psychiatric and psychological level, and to fully evaluate all psychiatric medications a patient has been on the past, so Dr. Kocher is able to give therapeutic as well as medication-management recommendations to address patient mental health.

Dr. Kocher didn't really seem empathetic to any of my issues. I had to repeat myself more than once and she issued generic advice without really considering what I was saying.
The most frustrating part was that she kept interrupting me as I was talking. She seems nice but I would not go back.

Came in for one thing, felt gaslighted and ignored. Was prescribed something completely different and was overwhelmed the whole time. After talking to my therapist, we agreed the course prescribed by this doc didn’t make sense for me. I won’t be taking the prescribed meds and I am looking for a new psychiatrist.

Dr. Kocher exceeded my expectations. She was on time and organized, and did a great job listening to me and making me feel heard. I didn’t feel rushed or nervous during my visit like I often times do with other providers. She bases her decisions as far as appropriate medications on reliable and up-to-date research and statistics, and takes into consideration the needs of the patient as an individual. She doesn’t mind doing extra research to help you out. She also helped me strive to think of non-invasive ways to reduce the stressors in my life. She is able to think outside of the box and knows all the appropriate questions to ask to help you. If you are searching for a new doctor or a second opinion, Dr. Kocher is an excellent choice.
