Through gentle exploration and active participation, Dr. Susman encourages clients to develop thoughtfulness about their lives and strives to facilitate meaningful connections. She aims to foster a sense of autonomy and personal resilience while providing a safe, empathic, and supportive space.
Dr. Susman works collaboratively with her clients to identify and work toward goals of treatment. She considers compassion, empathy, and respect to be vital elements of her clinical work, and approaches each individual with an appreciation for difference.
Dr. Susman received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Adelphi University’s Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center. Her varied clinical experiences comprise both inpatient and outpatient settings, brief and long-term psychotherapy, and individual and group work. Prior to joining the Williamsburg Therapy Group, Dr. Susman trained at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, The New School Counseling Services, and the Center for Psychological Services, a community mental health care clinic.
