Psychotherapist
159 Bleecker St, Ste 2C, New York, NY
As an integrative therapist, I blend several therapeutic approaches to tailor my work to each individual. I primarily draw from cognitive-behavioral approaches, particularly acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and rational-emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), person-centered therapy, existential therapy, and family systems therapy. This allows me to provide a flexible, client-centered approach that helps individuals explore and shift patterns of thinking and behavior while also considering the role of family dynamics and life’s deeper existential questions. I work with adults navigating a variety of challenges, including anxiety conditions, relationship concerns, eating disturbances, life transitions, grief, and trauma. I am especially passionate about helping families identify unhelpful interactional patterns and hierarchies and create change within their lives. Whether you're struggling with difficult emotions, thoughts, or behaviors, or looking to make lasting changes in your life, my goal is to support you in exploring your values, increasing self-awareness, and taking committed action towards a fulfilling life. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology a, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and am a prelicensed clinician. Giancarlo Cutrupi is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating — whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just ready for something to shift in your life. My role is to meet you where you are, with warmth, compassion, and genuine curiosity. Together, we can navigate challenges such as anxiety, relationship concerns, eating disturbances, life transitions, grief, and trauma. I’m especially passionate about helping families recognize unhelpful interaction patterns and discover new ways of connecting that feel supportive and lasting. I also provide affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals and deeply value creating a safe space for exploring the unique experie Whether you're struggling with difficult emotions, thoughts, or behaviors, or looking to make lasting changes in your life, my goal is to support you in exploring your values, increasing self-awareness, fostering self-acceptance, and taking committed action towards a fulfilling life. You can expect warmth, empathy, and safety in our work together. If you feel ready to take that first step, please don’t hesitate to reach out — I’d be honored to walk alongside you. I work with adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, relationship concerns, eating disturbances, life transitions, grief, and trauma. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can better understand yourself, explore your values, and take meaningful steps toward a more fulfilling life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we begin working together, my first priority is to get to know you, your story, your strengths, and what brings you to therapy. In our initial sessions, we’ll spend time exploring your goals, understanding the challenges you’re facing, and identifying patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. From there, we’ll collaborate on a plan tailored to your needs. Because I take an integrative approach, I pull from different therapeutic methods—such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), person-centered therapy, and family systems work, to ensure our work fits you rather than the other way around. Throughout the process, I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe to be yourself, gain clarity, and practice new ways of thinking and coping. We’ll regularly check in on your progress and adjust our approach as needed, ensuring therapy continues to align with your goals. Ultimately, my goal is to help you increase self-awareness, build resilience, and create lasting, meaningful change in your life.
