Our Medical Director
A native of El Paso, Texas, Dr. Pazmiño formed The SpineCal Institute upon moving to California after specializing primarily in Spinal Surgery and Orthopaedics . Dr. Pazmino graduated with honors from The University of California, Los Angeles UCLA. He then spent two years as a third grade bilingual teacher at Grant Elementary in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Pazmino is the director of Spine deformity and arthroplasty in the department of Orthopaedics at the Spine Cal Institute. His research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of spine disorders, and artificial disc replacement. He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and written book chapters on disc herniations, disc pathology and the cervical disc. Dr. Pazmino earned his medical degree from The University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor. He completed an internship and Orthopaedic residency at the Detroit Medical Center, and a combined Neurological and Orthopaedic Spinal fellowship in complex and reconstructive spine surgery in Los Angeles through Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Olympia Medical Center and Century City Doctors Hospital. He also completed a second Neurological and Orthopaedic Spinal fellowship in deformity and arthroplasty through the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen Organization/ AO Spinal Surgical Fellowship in Brazil
