Dr. Jay is an excellent doctor, really skilled in her exam technique. She is empathetic and mild-mannered. She is a practitioner of the natural contraception/fertility method relying on monitoring the body's hormonal cycle to determine probability of pregnancy. This method is something I have successfully practiced for 20 years and it was have a doctor with whom I can freely discuss it and who is knowledgeable about it.

I loved her! I’ve been trying to find a doctor supportive of and knowledgeable about my choice to stay off “the pill” and it’s near impossible. She was excellent, highly recommend.

This was my second appointment with this doctor, and both times she commented on my shaving choices, which I found odd and inappropriate. She also commented on my weight in a way that didn’t seem relevant and made comments about the length of my relationship with my sexual partner. Overall I did not feel at ease. I do not recommend this doctor for those looking for a judgment-free zone. I will be looking for a new OBGYN.

Do not go here if you wish to talk to someone about contraception. Thankfully that was not the purpose of my visit, but she told me verbatim that contraception "wasn't [her] thing." It sounds like she wants to focus her practice more on obstetrics and not gynecology.
Excellent!!

I've seen Dr. Jay twice. My first visit was in January 2018 for an annual and to renew my oral contraceptive prescription after my previous OB/GYN retired. I inquired about the birth control implant but she said she doesn't do that. Appointment was fine, though she did push "natural family planning," which I didn't interest me. Later that year (December?) my pharmacy told me she refused my birth control refill, even though I had 1 refill left. I made an appointment January 2019. She told me she couldn't refill because I was due for my annual (even though I wasn't in December) and that she was no longer prescribing birth control for faith-based reasons. From now on, the other MD in the practice would prescribe her patients birth control. I was so shocked I just smiled and nodded. Dr. Jay never asked me why I started taking birth control. If she had, she would have learned that I began taking it before I was sexually active for my frequent (every 2.5-3 weeks), long (7+ days), disruptive (cramping so painful it wakes you up, moodiness including random crying, etc.) periods. As a scientist, however, I asked her for papers on the validity of natural family planning. Dr. Jay told me to look it up. Last month (December 2019) I encountered the same problem in renewing my prescription. I wound up going to another OB/GYN.

Dr. Jay is horrible. I would not recommend, DO NOT CHOOSE HER! Her bedside manner was extremely unfriendly. Then, she basically shamed me for using the pill. She believes in family planning but decided to tell me that at the very end of the appointment. Where I got a lecture on how bad the pill is for me, even though she knew that was the contraception I was. She reluctantly filled my prescription and I will never see her again.

Although some of Dr. Jay's interests align with mine in terms of functional medicine and looking at the bigger picture of one's health, I found it extremely unprofessional that I was not notified by her/her office before I saw her that she does not prescribe birth control other than condoms or diaphrams. Though the other doctor in the office does, and she offered for me to see her for the insertion, I was still very put off and feel this information is important to divulge to patients BEFORE they are seen-- I had already spent over 45 in the office. I felt that she tried to coerce me out of getting a copper IUD, and she said nothing positive it. I did learn a few things from her about the way the body works in relationship to absorbing and utilizing hormones, and some ideas for how to regulate my cycle, but I will not be going back to see her. I wanted to let people know if you are looking for BC (hormonal or not) she's not your chick. Even if you are not going for birth control, I would be aware of the fact that she does give off a judgemental vibe. I have pretty thick skin with doctors, and I still haven't been able to shake this feeling of being demeaned/judged. Front desk staff was awesome. MassHealth accepted. I rarely write reviews on these kind of websites, so know that this is because I really don't want anyone else to go through that experience without being prepared for it.
Waited too long for having had an appointment, wasn’t prepared with the right tools for a routine Pap smear, and during a vulnerable state as a patient, Dr. Jay spoke to me about her religious faith and her belief in ‘natural family planning,’ attempting to stray me away from oral contraceptives which was the main reason why I was visiting her. Felt it was inappropriate behavior for her as a gynecologist and left feeling uncomfortable and judged.
She was kind, a good listener, and was able to quickly understand what I was experiencing and my approach to health and healing. She was open-minded and knowledgeable.
Excellent and very skilled physician.
