This was a great experience. No wasted time and the staff were extremely friendly, quick and thorough. Dr. Schkade spent quality time informing me about allergies, intolerance and IBS issues. I was tested for all food allergies. Highly recommend.

Dr. Schkade grew up in Texas. He earned a bachelors degree in biochemistry from the University of Texas System, his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
After living in Germany and extensively traveling Europe for three years, he relocated to Colorado for his Allergy and Immunology training at the National Jewish Center and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center.
Dr. Schkade is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine, where he teaches medical students, residents and allergists in training from the National Jewish Center. He is active in clinical research studies that develop new treatments for allergies. Dr. Schkade frequently lectures to physicians in private practice regarding newer treatment modalities in the areas of allergy and asthma. Dr. Schkade has a special interest in treating patients with severe asthma, nasal allergies and hives. Twice per month he travels to rural clinics in central and eastern Colorado to treat clients in underserved areas. He is board certified in Allergy and Immunology and is a Fellow in the American College of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Schkade enjoys hiking, woodworking, riding motorcycles and cooking with his wife. He also enjoys skiing with his two daughters.

Entire appointment was great - Dr Schkade was attentive and great at talking through everything. I was able to pick what I got allergy tested for based on my diet and concerns and then he went a step beyond to try to address a persistent issue I've been having out of the scope of allergies. Dr Schkade is very professional, attentive and friendly. I was late for my appointment and all the staff and Dr Paul Schkade were understanding and kind. He spent almost 2 hours with me, asking for all my medical history and information about my health; running tests and checking results. They are, by far, the best clinic in Colorado.

Dr. Schkade made me feel like I was the only patient he had to see all day. I had plenty of time to ask every last little question, he listened to everything I said/asked in its entirety, and he answered/responded fully. During my allergen test, he and the nurses explained fully everything they were going to do, what I could expect and what the results meant. They gave me treatment options without pushing any decisions on me. All around, I had a very pleasant and informative visit.

Wonderful. Such a great experience! Dr. Schkade was amazing. He made me feel as if he really wanted to help my life of allergies! Did not expect to feel so good about this visit, but I do. Dr. Schkade was really great. He was friendly and upbeat. He was clearly very intelligent and a really good listener. I, in particular, liked that he was very careful in what he said when discussing my concerns. He made a point of not wanting to make me feel like my concerns were silly or insignificant.
Now, his staff is another story. I did not get the best feeling when I walked in because they just weren't very nice. The receptionist and the first nurse I saw, in my opinion, were not very friendly -I just don't like that when going to a doctor's office. Not that I was particularly nervous, but I think going to the doctor is not always very pleasant and a friendly staff makes me feel way more comfortable.

Beside manner was rushed, I felt my responses to being asked what my concerns were, or what brought me there to be seen were cut off alot, making me feel as if I had to rush through my explanations. I understand allergy testing can not be done on a person with dermatographia because of the hive response to the needle prickings. My question is to why blood testing wasnt offered instead. I failed to ask this at the time of appointment as it slipped my mind then. Also, Schkade mentioned "God" quite a bit, which turned me off. One of the comments as he walked me to the exit was "pray to God that he takes this (dermagraphia)away from you". This may go over well with those who are religious, I found it inappropriate being that Im not. Keeping professionalism in mind, I feel that doctors should keep religion out of their practice, because they can never know who is religious and who is not, or what religion clients align themselves with.
