More about Dr. Peter Haugen, PhD
I work primarily within a psychodynamic model of psychotherapy. The goal of this kind of treatment is to ease emotional distress and increase hope and optimism. This is achieved in part by helping clients develop deeper self-understanding and self-mastery, leaving them better able to live realistically, productively, and joyfully.
Treatment with me typically consists of a series of 50-minute sessions, at least once a week. The length of treatment is based on a client's specific situation and goals and is therefore highly individualized.
I am also a Clinical Instructor at the NYU School of Medicine, Senior Psychologist at the NYU/Bellevue World Trade Center Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program, part of the Training Faculty of the NYU/Bellevue Psychology Internship Training Program, and coordinator of the Trauma Track of the NYU/Bellevue Psychology Externship Program.
