With over 30 years experience, Dr Modugno has been in the private practice of OB/GYN in Chicago, Atlanta and most recently in Western North Carolina. Trained in South Africa and the US, he has a unique perspective of the specialty of OB/GYN.
In the past, he has worked in collaboration with certified nurse-midwives, including our own Diane Tandy!
In addition to his expertise in obstetrics, he is proficient in minimally-invasive gynecology – including laparoscopic hysterectomy, Essure sterilization and endometrial ablation techniques for heavy menstrual bleeding.
He is a former Assistant Clinical Professor of OB/GYN at the University of Illinois at Chicago, former Chairman of OB/GYN at North Fulton Regional Hospital , long-standing member of the Medical Staff at Northside Hospital, and Chairman of Perinatology at Harris Regional Hospital, in Sylva, North Carolina.
Dr Modugno is American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology certified and recertified. He is a Fellow of the American Congress of OB/GYN and member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Intrigued with changes in health care, he completed an MBA for Physician Executives at Kennesaw State University, graduating in the Millennum Class.
In his spare time, Dr Modugno enjoys participating in community theater, and singing/playing guitar in a rock-n-roll band! He is married and has two grown sons.
