He has had broad and extensive experience treating a variety of populations, including children, adolescents, young and older adults, and seniors. Always striving for a collaborative approach with his patients as well as his colleagues, Dr. Roy has so far had a varied range of professional positions including: Medical Director of a large suburban community mental health center, Senior Psychiatrist in a large forensic setting, Medical Director of an intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program, Consulting Psychiatrist to alcohol and methadone treatment programs, and as solo practitioner in his suburban private practice. In addition to working psychotherapeutically and psychopharmacologically with people who present with depression, anxiety, and other mood and thought disorders, Dr.Roy’s special clinical interests include ADHD, anxiety/depression, office-based addiction treatment including the prescribing of Suboxone, and differential diagnosis in complex cases. Dr. Roy has a strong belief that working with patients must be a true collaboration in order to effect meaningful change.
Dr. Roy received his medical degree at the McGill University Faculty of Medicine, and completed his psychiatric residency training at Dartmouth College and New York Medical College.
