Getting to know Dr. Marlynn Wei

Are you looking for a holistic and compassionate approach to therapy? I am a Harvard- and Yale-trained psychiatrist, therapist, certified yoga teacher, and founder of a boutique psychotherapy practice. I specialize in working with high-achieving individuals, including professionals, entrepreneurs, and executives in industries such as finance, tech, VC firms, law, and creative/film/arts. With over 15 years of experience, I help clients using a strengths-based, mindful compassion approach that draws from multiple therapy modalities to navigate career stress, relationships, work-life balance, and anxiety. Recipient of the Anne Alonso Psychotherapy Award at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard. Important notes: - Prepayment for your sessions are required prior to your appointment to secure your spot. - My practice does not accept insurance, but your paid receipt acts as a superbill that you may file for out-of-network reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits. I provide holistic, integrative psychotherapy (with and without medications), comprehensive consultations, and second opinions, but I do not provide medication only visits. Natural supplements are often recommended to improve brain / mind health and minimize medications. Many clients are not on medications but integrate supplements. My therapy approach weaves together strengths-based, psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed, IFS, and positive psychology. Licensed in New York, California, and Massachusetts.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Once you schedule an appointment, I will email you to schedule a complimentary initial 20-minute phone call to discuss what you are looking for and next steps to prepare for our first session. My boutique practice is currently offering integrative/holistic psychiatry consultations, weekly psychotherapy (+/- medications and supplements), coaching, and second opinion consultations. Given the central role of therapy to accelerate your goals, I typically work with clients weekly (or sometimes biweekly). We will discuss the possibility of a 4-session intensive optimization, in which we will map out underlying issues that may be interfering with reaching your full potential. My approach offers in-depth healing and transformation through a complementary and integrated approach to therapy. I combine individualized forms of psychotherapy, mindfulness, natural supplements/botanicals, and minimize the role of medications. My practice does not offer medication only follow-up visits at this time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I primarily work with clients in weekly talk therapy and coaching (+/- medications). Typical process for new clients 1. Initial Complimentary 20-minute phone call for prospective clients. I will email you to have a complimentary 20-minute phone call prior to our consultation to discuss what you are looking for and next steps. 2. Scheduled 60 minute first session - at this session, we will discuss your main stressors and I will provide recommendations on next steps from my integrative holistic approach. 3. 4-session Intensive Optimization (45-minute sessions)- Over 4 follow-up sessions, we will do a focused, in-depth exploration of underling issues that may be interfering with the actualization of your full potential. At the end of these 4 follow-up sessions, we will discuss recommendations around next steps and weekly therapy. 4. Weekly or biweekly therapy (45-minute sessions) +/- medications and supplements My approach uses strength-focused mindful compassion integrated approach to therapy, weaving together multiple modalities including psychodynamic, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, self-compassion, relational, and IFS.
