Dr. Robert A. Weiss is a former Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is currently the President of the ASLMS (American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery) where he previously served on the Board of Directors. He served as President of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) from 2008 - 2009. He is currently very active in teaching for ASDS, AAD and ASLMS. His education included residency in dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University after graduating from Columbia University and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1978). Additional fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health in dermatologic research followed. Board-certified, he has been a featured speaker for the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery for over 20 years, as well as speaking to many other national and international dermatology and cosmetic organizations and societies. He has received numerous international awards of recognition. A prolific author of over 100 articles and a dozen textbooks including "Vein Diagnosis & Treatment: A Comprehensive Approach," published by McGraw-Hill and "Cosmetic Dermatology." Dr. Weiss is a former Associate Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins. He has helped to prepare examination questions for the American Board of Dermatology. He served as Treasurer of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and President of the American College of Phlebology. He is presently a Board member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has served on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He has published extensively on many subjects, especially varicose vein treatment, sclerotherapy, lasers, and cosmetic dermatology surgery. His expertise on these topics has led to his appearances on many TV shows such as "20/20" and "The Today Show."
