Dr. DiMisa is a New York State Licensed Psychologist. She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hofstra University.
Dr. DiMisa’s past clinical experiences include working as an anger management therapist in Hofstra University’s Institute for the Study and Treatment of Anger and Aggression, as well as an outpatient therapist in the anxiety and depression program at Hofstra University’s Psychological Evaluation Research and Counseling Center. Dr. DiMisa also has experience working with inpatient populations at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY. Since completing her graduate training, Dr. DiMisa has spent the past seven years working as a forensic psychologist for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Dr. DiMisa utilizes a cognitive-behavioral and rational-emotive behavioral approach in her therapeutic work. She has also received extensive training in parent-child interaction therapy and mindfulness-based techniques. She deeply values the utility of psychotherapy in assisting patients to navigate through their lives in more fulfilling and meaningful ways, especially when confronted with challenging life circumstances.
