Dr. Scott Taylor brings world class orthopedic experience and unique expertise to the Oakland medical community. Patients and professional peers alike know him for his cool resolve under pressure; his absolute precision and steely focus make him a highly sought after orthopedist among professional and amateur athletes throughout the Bay Area.
After completing his undergraduate studies at the prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, Dr. Taylor earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. He then returned home to Oakland and completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at Highland Hospital. Dr. Taylor then ventured southward to Los Angeles, where he completed a four year residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Martin Luther King, Jr Hospital. While he was there, Dr. Taylor performed surgery in the notorious trauma center, which was for years a proving ground for some of California’s best orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Taylor is a member of the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association, the Sinkler-Miller Medical Association, California Medical Association and California Orthopedic Assocation. From 2004-2006, Dr. Taylor chaired the Department of Surgery at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley and he is presently a medical staff board member in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery there as well.
Dr. Taylor’s wry, wit and compassionate bedside manner have endeared him to generations of patients in Oakland, and in addition to being a first class orthopedist, Dr. Taylor is likely to be voted “Doctor You’d Most Like To Have A Drink And Share Your Secrets With.” Though Dr. Taylor cannot accommodate such requests, he will happily make himself available to you and engineer first rate care for your medical needs.

He was extremely friendly and sweet, but I'm not sure if he was the right doctor for me - he didn't really seem to know what was going on with me and everything he told me, it was all common sense stuff I knew. Probably won't be going back.
