Dr. Ko and his team were so efficient! They gave me an X-Ray before even meeting the doctor. As a fat person I was very afraid to go to this appointment and be dismissed due to my size. I was pleasantly surprised that I was not weighed or blamed for my injury. I work as a therapist supporting folks with eating disorders, living in fat bodies, etc. and I will be adding this doctor to my list as someone who is safe to go to if you live in a larger body or don't want weight-centric care.

Dr. Ko is kind and knowledgeable, he gave me a thorough exam, answered questions I had, and gave me a treatment plan. Staff is also very friendly and helpful. Office is clean and very modern. Parking was easy on street and there is a nearby garage.

Sebastian Ko, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic and reconstructive techniques of the shoulder, knee, and hip, including shoulder replacements and hip arthroscopy. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine, completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the same institution, and pursued a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and Shoulder Arthroplasty at Northwestern University's Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
A former NCAA Division 1 athlete, Dr. Ko has a strong interest in treating athletic injuries. His experience includes caring for elite athletes as the assistant team physician for the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs, and Rockford IceHogs professional sports teams, as well as the Northwestern Division 1 collegiate football team.
Dr. Ko's practice philosophy emphasizes patient-centered care. He is dedicated to accurately diagnosing each patient's orthopedic concern and developing individualized treatment plans that incorporate both non-surgical and surgical options.

I went to Dr. Ko after my knee kept locking up and swelling routinely. I was in pain, but otherwise mostly mobile during our first consultation. Dr. Ko listened to my symptoms and concerns and scheduled imaging promptly, revealing a tear in my meniscus.
What stands out to me with Dr. Ko is the human-element in his care. I've had my fair share of doctors in the past whom I felt were not actually listening to me. Dr. Ko, however, took the time to address any questions I might have and made himself available to be contacted directly. That openness to communicate blew my mind. I've had this type of surgery 2 times in the past with different surgeons and in both cases it felt like I had little to no post-op care. Dr. Ko, definitely breaks that mold.
He perform the knee scope perfectly and has done an excellent job with his post-op care. I am still in recovery, but it has gone smoothly thus far.

The office processed my paperwork and got me into an exam room shortly. After a bit of waiting, a resident came in and helped diagnose the issues I was having. Dr. Ko joined in and gave me a quick, concise path to recovery.

He was ok, his office is horrible. Dr “called in” prescriptions that never arrived at Pharmacy. I have called his office on multiple days and multiple times and no one answers the phone and I still haven’t received a call back. I went back by on day of appointment and office closed early! Horrible customer service.
