Dr Shabbar Hussain graduated from medical school at Punjab Medical College in Pakistan. Following his training, he joined the United States Army where he completed his internship and residency, respectively at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, and Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Augusta, Georgia. He served as a Major in the United States Army until 1992.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Hussain worked at Walson Army Hospital at Fort Dix N.J.
Dr. Hussain then traveled to Pennsylvania where he joined Orthopaedic Assoicates in 1992, and is a practicing Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon.
He provides services for adult and pediatric muscular skeletal disorders. He specializes in Total Joint Replacements, including knees, hips, ankles, shoulders and elbows.
His area of expertise also covers general orthopaedics – arthroscopic procedures, carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel releases, fracture care, trauma, bunions, hammertoes, achilles tendon repairs/treatment, feet and ankle problems. His special interest include management of shoulder problems. Muscular back discomfort is treated with non-operative modalities.
Dr Hussain has made several publications including: “Entrapment of Extensor Tendons with Distal Radius Fracutures, published in the Journal of Hand Surgery- 1989. “Technique of Medial Malleolus Fixation,” published in Ortho-paedics Today- November 1987. “Bone and Grafting with Protrusio Acetabuli, Scientific Exhibit AAOS- -1989 (Las Vegas). “Utilization of Solid Autogenous Bone Graft in Secondary Protrusio Acetabuli. Orthopaedic-January 1992.
