Dr. Frederick D. Scott, Jr. was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. metro area. He attended St. John's College High School in Northwest Washington, D.C. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. He was a Meyerhoff Scholar and obtained a BSE in Chemical Engineering and a BS in Biochemistry. He earned his medical degree from University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he met his wife Dr. Mina Garrett-Scott who became a primary care physician. After medical school, he competed two years of General Surgery residency and an orthopaedic research year at University of Maryland. He then went to Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University (formerly University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ-Robert Wood Johnson) for his Orthopaedic Surgery residency, which included clinical training at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Dr. Scott went on to State University of New York-Buffalo to complete a fellowship in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery. He has been practicing in Northern Virginia since 2012. He specializes in upper extremity injuries and general orthopaedic conditions. He has a particular interest in trauma related injuries. He also has a great interest in integrating current technologies and innovations into his practice.
