This is a long overdue review of a wonderful person. I've been seeing her for a few months and she is fantastic! I've made a lot of progress with her and continue to show improvement from week to week. It's very refreshing to finally meet a professional who cares.
Dr. Kim was able to effectively communicate valuable insight and pinpoint key components and rational solutions for the difficulties that are facing my daughter at this time.

More about Dr. Soni Kim, PsyD

**Because it is important for us to ensure that you are meeting with the right psychologist for you, we will contact you by phone once you book your appointment, and we may have to find another day and time that works for both you and your psychologist. In my experience, a successful outcome in psychotherapy is always a result of a collaborative working relationship between me and my client, and I value being a part of my clients’ journey toward happiness. My approach to psychotherapy can be described broadly as insight oriented and emotionally based. I believe that self-awareness and understanding are vital to making the choices that lead to happiness and fulfillment, and that being “out of touch” with one’s feelings and thoughts can lead to confusion, anxiety, and result in poor decisions. In order to reach such understanding, I incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as practicing good life skills, correcting dysfunctional or unhealthy patterns and understanding how our past influences the present. I work with adolescents and adults in individual, couples, and family modalities, and specialize in the following concerns: - Establishing and enriching relationships - Anxiety disorders, including panic disorder and OCD - Eating disorders and disordered eating - Depression I received my BS from Boston College and Psy.D. (Doctor of Psychology) from Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I was an adjunct associate professor at USC’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, and supervised psychologists in psychotherapy and assessment at The Guidance Center in Long Beach. I have presented nationally on topics of psychotherapy and Asian American mental health and have worked as an expert witness in both of these areas.
