Dr. Bell is an orthopedic surgeon with The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group. Dr. Bell received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Following medical school, he completed an internship in surgery at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and was selected as the surgical intern of the year. Dr. Bell then went on to complete the navy diving medical officer program as the honor graduate in Groton, Connecticut and, Panama City, Florida and was subsequently appointed as the medical department head, in charge of medical care for navy seal training at the Naval Special Warfare Center BUD/S in Coronado, California.
He then returned to Naval Medical Center San Diego where he completed his orthopedic surgery training. His residency experience included sports medicine, joint reconstruction, hand surgery and trauma training at both the University of California San Diego and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.
After residency, Dr. Bell was the director of surgical services and orthopedic surgeon at the Naval Base in Rota, Spain. He then returned to Texas and spent three and a half years practicing sports medicine and general orthopedics with the navy in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dr. Bell is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has additional subspecialty certification in orthopedic sports medicine.
Dr. Bell has a special interest in sports injuries, minimally invasive total hip replacement (direct anterior approach), and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle.
