About Dr. Russell Jackson
Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Dr. Jackson has called Texas home for many years and is proud to be in San Antonio serving patients with their orthopaedic needs. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas. Dr. Jackson completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Oklahoma State University. Prior to opening his practice, he completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the Hand Center of San Antonio, where he and his wife and three children fell in love with the Alamo City.
Dr. Jackson had the opportunity to train with outstanding physicians in the field of upper extremity and then completed a prestigious trauma fellowship in Brisbane, Australia, under the guidance of a world-renowned trauma surgeon. He has a strong interest and passion for treating injuries to the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder and stays at the forefront of new treatments and related research.
Building relationships with patients is a top priority for Dr. Jackson and his entire staff. He seeks to educate and understand each patient's priorities and goals concerning their health. Outside of medicine, Dr. Jackson's priority is spending time with his family. He enjoys Fightin' Texas Aggie Football, traveling, and running.

Everyone in this office is extremely friendly. It is a bonus that you can fill out all your paperwork online ahead if time. It is also fantastic that you can get needed X-rays in the office. I have a couple concerns that prevents me from giving a stellar review:
1. I mentioned repeatedly where I experience most of my pain, yet I feel like the steroid shot I received was not focused on that area.
2. The steroid shot was super painful - felt like areas were hit that should not be (more than once). I have had same shots in cervical spine that were less painful. This is worth mentioning because the extent of the sudden shooting pain during the injection actually caused feta/anxiety that some damage was done. This is likely not true, but for whatever reason it is how I felt when done and even now a day later.
