The philosophy of this practice is to deliver high quality, caring, and personal medical care. It is located in an elegant town house which is easily accessible by the Lexington Avenue Subway and all forms of transportation. General eye exams are performed and all types of contact lenses are fitted. But the special focus of the practice is for LASIK and Cataract surgery.
Dr. Stephen Kelly was one of the Investigators at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and throat Hospital for the FDA Excimer Laser Clinical Study, which led to the approval by the FDA of laser vision correction for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. This investigational site was one of ten in the country, and the only one in New York City, which did this pioneering study of laser vision correction. After approval by the FDA, Dr. Kelly was selected by the laser manufacturer to train other ophthalmologists in its use. Dr. Kelly uses the latest wavefront-guided custom laser treatments.
The enhanced visual correction with premium IOL’s in cataract surgery is another special focus of the practice. Toric Intra-Ocular Lenses can be used in patients with astigmatism to give better vision without glasses. In selected cases, presbyopia-correcting Intra-Ocular Lenses can be used to correct both distance and reading vision.

I arrived 1/2 hour early to my appointment and was seen on time. The front desk staff were friendly and liked the fact that you are given a heads up on a procedure that Dr. Kelly performs that may or may not be covered by insurance and you are given the option before hand. I of course wanted a thorough exam so i opted to have it done, if my insurance does not cover it Im glad i wont be surprised at the bill when it arrives.
Dr. Kelly himself was a very pleasant man and my exam was very thorough. I've never had an eye exam like that before so i was very pleased. The only downside was he put some drops in my eyes that blurred my vision tremendously and I was useless at work not being able to read or write until my vision cleared up again (about 2 hours later). I will definitely make my next appointment after working hours so I can go straight home afterwards. None the less I really liked Dr. Kelly and his professionalism. I will definitely be returning and Im making an appointment for my husband soon.
