Very pleasant staff. Comfortable, welcoming office. Dr. Nystrom gave me life back after doing my hip replacement. Prior to surgery, he was kind, compassionate and thorough. He reviewed all lab work, X-Rays, etc. With me and answered all questions regarding the surgery and recovery. I received excellent care and an excellent surgical outcome.

Dr. Nystrom is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine. He is also board eligible by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. His philosophy in his own words. . . “I provide compassionate care for orthopedic patients with a focused approach to maximize non-operative modalities and use surgery as a last resort. The management of the diagnosis is shared between the patient and myself.”
Having received his bachelor’s degree in medical biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of New England, Dr. Nystrom attended medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Michigan State University followed by his fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at TRIA Orthopedic Center in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Dr. Nystrom has a wide range of experience including hip, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, multi-ligament knee reconstruction and cartilage transplant and preservation procedures. He also specializes in adult reconstructive surgeries such as hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty. Dr. Nystrom has completed rotations in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has also performed hand surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan as well as adult reconstruction at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, Michigan.
