The provider took my insurance. But he did the I take and the therapist he assigned me doesnt accept my insurance. But I will give it a try. Zocdoc isnt clear about who takes your insurance or not. I don't appreciate not knowing this because some of us cant afford paying out of network

NOTE: Dr. Fried conducts all intakes with our practice, however he is no longer seeing ongoing clients for psychotherapy.
Dr. Steven Fried is the Founder and Director of New Pathways Counseling Center. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and has been in private practice for nearly thirty years. He is a Certified School Psychologist, has Post-Graduate Certification in Family Therapy, and is considered an expert in psychological testing. Dr. Fried is a published author, has been on the faculty at New York University for twenty-five years, and is a consultant at Brooklyn Hospital. He also helped coordinate the delivery of emergency mental health services and supervised dozens of practitioners in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack.
Dr. Fried obtained his Ph.D. at Hofstra University where he was trained in cognitive-behavioral techniques. Thereafter, he trained extensively in psychoanalysis. Dr. Fried also holds a Juris Doctorate. Dr. Fried is a member of both the New York State Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association.

Dr. F was very professional and had a nice bedside manner. He collected background information and basic medical history as part of the first visit. I would have been pleased to continue therapy with him. However, this doctor is a middleman for other therapists. The initial appointment with him is covered under your health insurance, but he then places you with a different therapist who is NOT COVERED by your insurance. This is not posted on Zocdoc. In my opinion, this is a form of bait and switch and is an unethical business practice, especially in the mental health field. Do NOT book an appointment with this provider if you prefer to see a therapist covered by your insurance.
