After practicing for over 30 years, I still love my work. It is a privilege to become closely involved with my patients and their challenges. I believe I bring a special blend of intellectual rigor and emotional warmth into every treatment. No two patients are the same, therefore each treatment has to be tailor-made to your individual needs. I much prefer to do "talk therapy", combined, if needed, with medication, than psychopharmacology alone. If for reasons of scheduling or finances, I am unable to see you, I will help you to find another psychiatrist or therapist.
I am psychoanalytically trained, which means I am interested in helping my patients understand themselves better, learning how their past experiences are continuing to affect their present lives and relationships. But I am not going after insight alone: I expect changes and symptomatic relief.
Please know when you book an appointment with me, it is my practice to have a brief phone conversation prior to your visit. I work out of network with insurance companies with successful reimbursement of 70-100% of my fees for most patients depending on their insurance plan.
