Getting to know Hanan Khorchid
Hanan is a dual board-certified nurse practitioner in Adult-Gerontology and Psychiatric Mental Health. She graduated from La Salle University in 2016 with a Master’s degree in Adult Gerontology Nursing. In 2019, she obtained her Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from the University of New Hampshire.
Hanan has worked in corrections as a primary care nurse practitioner/detox and as an APN in the psychiatric unit at a local hospital. Prior to that, she spent seven years as a registered nurse (RN) at a psychiatric hospital and has worked in various other settings as an RN.
Her approach to treating individuals with mental health challenges focuses on helping them build resiliency in facing their own tragedies by offering therapeutic advice and sharing appropriate treatment options to support their recovery journey.
Working with patients in long-term psychiatric facilities and inmates in correctional institutions has reinforced her belief that early intervention in outpatient care is crucial to prevent potential long-term hospitalization or incarceration related to mental health issues and addiction.
Hanan is a New Yorker of Moroccan descent who moved to New Jersey in 2011. In her free time, she enjoys interior design and spending time with family.

I had a very negative experience with Hanan. During my session with Hanan, she came across as very cold, judgmental, unfriendly and even looked visibly disgusted while I was talking with her. Her facial expressions made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome which is the last thing anyone should ever feel when seeking mental health treatment. As a result, I am no longer interested in seeing her again since I didn’t feel safe nor respected in her presence. I’ve worked with other psychiatrists before and never felt so judged until meeting with Hanan. I would not recommend her to anyone looking for compassionate or professional care.

To anyone who I believe is just is coming for medication but might need a mental evaluation or just wants one than you are golden. Hanan, will take her time listen and ask all the right questions. You can tell she has done her homework because after listening she describe what you may be experiencing without having to always explain yourself. She will work with you as long as you communicate and open up about what your visit is for. I ended picking Hanan as my main physiatrist and I've never had one before so this is exciting for me as she makes me feel open, safe, and comfortable enough to mature.
