About Dr. Tareq Abedin
Dr. Abedin is a native of the metropolitan area. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical College of Virginia. He is double board certified in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine (adult medicine). Dr. Abedin provides care to a diverse range of patients, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. He enjoys Pediatrics, Preventative Family Medicine/Internal Medicine, Cosmetic Dermatology, Alternative Health, and Teaching. Dr. Abedin helped pioneer the first hospital interface in the INOVA Healthcare system to Loudoun Hospital and serves on the Advisory Boards for A4 Healthsystems electronic medical records and INOVA hospital system's IT committee. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University - Medical College of Virginia. He received his acupuncture certification from Kiiko Matsumoto at Harvard Medical School and holds a Certification in Structural Acupuncture from Harvard University.

Dr. Abedin is probably the least empathetic and the worst listener of a doctor that I’ve ever had misfortune of having in my life.
The first thing Dr. Abedin did as soon as he walked in was trying to sell an additional exam, no greeting or anything.
Throughout the appointment, he was very short in answering and/or seemed to be annoyed answering questions and concerns that I brought up, like he was short on time or was in bad mood. He didn’t really seem to listen to anything, and showed zero empathy.
Office staff was overall unorganized and seemed annoyed as well.
I don’t really have a high standard for a doctor, and it would take a lot for me to change one I have been seeing, but Dr. Abedin is not someone that I would bring my child or myself back to be examined ever again.

It was my initial consultation with Dr. Abedin and he did an excellent job of explaining what course of action he proposes for me based on my list of health concerns. I felt very comfortable with him and he made me feel confident in his abilities and his diagnosis, I look forward to seeing him soon for my physical and getting back on the path to good health.

1 - Not enough visit for me to judge the doctor.
2 - Since they don't accept in-office blood work with my non-hmo aetna insurance, I have decided not to continue.
3 - Going in had no waiting, but seeing the doctor took more than 20 minutes.

My father-in-law came in from Colorado, and was very hesitant having a new doctor whether he needed it or not. He was also very scared that if he had anyone with an accent he wouldn't be able to hear or understand what was being said to him. My father-in-law came back and said that I had picked the perfect doctor for him. He made my father-in-law feel comfortable, and obviously Dr. Abedin got his sense of humor because "Dad" LOVED HIM...which does not happen often. I highly recommend Dr. Abedin.

Dr. Abedin has a very broad, inclusive command of modern medicine. He takes a careful, holistic approach to each patient, and delivers his counsel and diagnoses with courtesy, compassion and even a little bit of wit.
I have never been in a medical practice where I felt more respected, valued and understood as an entire person, and less like just the next appointment on the schedule. Dr. Abedin practices highly personalized medicine, bucking the trend towards impersonal, volume-driven medical care.
