I highly recommend Dr. Loughlin. He found a small polyp in my sinuses and said other doctors might recommend surgery for the extra money, but he found that highly unethical. He prescribed me antibiotics for the infection and Flonase to shrink the polyp. He also said that I wouldn't need surgery unless my situation got worse.
I also saw him for hoarseness and a sore throat that wouldn't go away. He used the scope to show me my polyp and also to show me my vocal cords. I was very relieved to find out everything was okay and he was EXTREMELY thorough in his explanation of everything I needed to know. The sore throat and hoarseness was caused by heartburn I was getting at night when I lay down to sleep. I had no idea I had heartburn since it happened while I was sleeping.
I left with written instructions on everything I had to do to fix the heartburn issue and how long I had to take the meds. He even advised me, with drawings, on how to raise the head of my bed one inch with magazines or books. I left completely satisfied with no questions unanswered. Amazing.

Dr. Terrence R Loughlin is a board certified Otolaryngology specialist (also known as Ear Nose and Throat). Dr. Loughlin is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His office is in the professional building 2, next door to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Dr. Loughlin completed his specialty training at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood Illinois. His practice is equally split between pediatric and adult Otolaryngology. The most common pediatric Otolaryngology problems include chronic tonsillitis, recurring middle ear infections, and sinusitis. The most common adult Otolaryngology problems include chronic sinusitis, chronic nasal congestion, hoarseness, recurring sore throat, sleep apnea, and hearing disorders. Dr. Loughlin is equipped to deal with all of these common problems as well as other Otolaryngologic problems. His practice also includes computer guided endoscopic sinus surgery, thyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, and head and neck cancer surgery. In addition to these treatments, the office is also staffed by an audiologist who can do hearing tests and dispense hearing aids.
Dr. Loughlin is on staff at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, and Hoffman Estates Surgery Center in Hoffman Estates. The new Hoffman Estates Surgery Center is in Professional Building 3, attached to St. Alexius Medical Center.
