Torri's career in Labor and Delivery started on one of the most momentous days in history. On 9-11-2001, with live news in the background showing the collapse of the Twin Towers, Torri was participating in her first live birth. It was in those weeks following the 9-11 tragedy it became very clear to Torri; her calling was to be a midwife. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Iowa and then went on to earn her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas. She practiced in all kinds of settings, from rural hospitals, urban hospitals, low risk settings, Community clinics, private practices and large corporate practices, and her own practice as well. Over time, Torri's passion has grown to focus on encouraging women and men to feel empowered to find their voice and learn how to love and accept themselves. She has expanded her knowledge and skills. She has developed a passion for medical weight loss and uses the same unique approach she's had throughout her career as a midwife: to meet each individual where they are and to embark on a journey with them as their partner for lifelong change. It has proven to be successful for many of her patients. The most rewarding part of her career has always been connecting with patients. She loves the relationships she has formed with her patients and the mutual learning that happens. Caring for and learning from women with diverse cultures has been the highlight of her career. In everything she does, Torri is passionate about empowering women – helping them to stand strong in their ideas and to speak their truth. When not at work, Torri spends time with her kids and reinvests in herself. Her three kids are BUSY! Her two daughters are very involved in gymnastics and, between the 2 of them, train 6 days per week. Her son is trying every sport to find his passion.
