He completed a residency in internal medicine at Yale University and a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Mayo Clinic. He was a faculty member at Mayo Medical School as Assistant Professor in the department of Gastroenterology and was on the faculty at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale before moving to Las Vegas.
