Dr. Vitaly Fishbein, MD, FACG is board certified in gastroenterology. He completed his fellowship at Georgetown University and National Institute of Health, where he authored and co-authored research on management of patients with Zollinger Ellison syndrome and idiopathic hypersecretory state. He has staff and admitting privileges at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
Dr. Fishbein performs comprehensive cancer screenings for colon cancer and Barrett's esophagus. He performs quality colonoscopy using high definition optical colonoscopy, narrow band imaging to identify early flat lesions in the right colon which could be missed during routine colonoscopy. In difficult cases we use a Water Immersion Colonoscopy technique to complete procedures which decrease pain and sedation amount for patients. We have more then 95% success in reaching the cecum, and most of our patient are clean and fully satisfied with this procedure.
Dr. Fishbein has a special interest in pelvic floor dysfunction including intractable constipation and rectal incontinence, using rectal manometry, biofeedback, rectal ultrasound, Sitzmark study and behavior modification. His office has unique, for New Jersey, esophageal and rectal motility lab with full range of sophisticated equipment including 48 hr PH Bravo, high resolution manometry.
Dr. Fishbein collaborates with top-rated laparoscopic surgeons in the tri-state metropolitan area who perform Nissen fundoplication for management of the Gastroesophageal reflux with full range of preoperative work up required for successful outcome of surgery.

The reason to go to any doctor can usually cause most people major stress. The entire staff is so friendly and efficient and Dr. Fishbein is so professional and knowledgeable - all put you at ease as much as possible. I happened to look at my watch when I was in the examination room and thought to myself - I am in here a couple of minutes after my appointment time and I was late in the afternoon. All around great doctor visit experience.

the office overcharged a pre-surgery fee which they were not supposed to do and not until did i call my insurance to follow up did the office send me back my money which they were planning on keeping for themselves
the dr. never followed up, is impossible to get in touch with and the office wouldn't give me my surgery results after multiple phone calls.
Dr. did not seem to care at all about my concerns and vaguely answered mt questions

This was my first visit with Dr Fishbein and was mostly a consultation, soat this point it's hard to judge the quality of care. His bedside manner was businesslike and slightly brusque, but he seemed to be thorough and competent, and to take my complaint seriously, which is more important. I have tests scheduled with him and feel hopeful that my treatment with him will be helpful.

Did not take the time needed to review my case. Was not receptive to my input - talked over me every time I tried to speak. Never returned several phone calls. Uses an online patient portal to communicate with patients and if you are unable or unwilling to use this - you'll never get in touch with him. I never got the sense that he put any thought into my case or cared about my well-being.

The doctor was terrific - informative, attentive, listened in great detail. He does not exude warmth as a bedside manner but does exude mastery of his specialty and attentiveness to patients, which in my opinion I prefer over a warm doctor who cannot get to the core of the medical issue with confidence.
