William Borden, MD, FACC, FAHA is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Health Policy at the George Washington University, and the Chief Quality and Population Health Officer at the GW Medical Faculty Associates. He specializes in preventive cardiology, the treatment of complex cholesterol disorders, and diagnosing and treating general cardiovascular diseases. In addition to practicing cardiology, Dr. Borden leads the GW Medical Faculty Associates initiatives to provide high-quality, appropriate, patient-centered care.
Dr. Borden previously served as a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the US Department of Health and Human Services and as a Medical Officer at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Dr. Borden’s research focuses on policy approaches to improving quality of care and has been published in journals such as JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, Circulation, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He serves as an Associate Editor of Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes. Dr. Borden is an active volunteer with both the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Borden received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Chicago, where he also served a year as chief medical resident and earned an MBA. Dr. Borden is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and clinical lipidology.
