I wasn’t there but my mother and home attendant where there, all he did was take notes, draw blood and come back in 2 weeks...he also prescribed or suggested a painless machine for diabetes, the insurance didn’t cover, so there was no other suggestions

It was very good. I explained to him my situation and he went from there. Ordered labs and etc right away on the spot. He is straight to the point. Looking forward to continuing my thyroid issues with him. Will recommend.

Doctor was extremely rude and dismissive and despite the fact that I went in with detailed written notes, lab results, and a diagnosis from my PCP, he ignored all of this. He wasted my time repeating labs and made me return2 weeks later, where he had no recollection of my first visit, made me wait over 2 hours, and then made derogatory comments about my body and told me that there was nothing wrong with me despite having test results in front of him from my previous visit suggesting otherwise. Altogether it was an awful experience and he was extremely rude.

Dr. Shiferaw-Deribe was quick, personable and informative. His nurse is a gem. Very funny and gentle when drawing blood. The wait time was minimal, and while the facility isn’t the newest, it’s clean and quiet.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Zewge Shiferaw-Deribe for a little less than a year. This was my first visit to his Utica location. He also has a practice at Interfaith on Atlantic. The Utica office is kind of a holein the wall that is shared with a Dentist. But looks can be deceiving. The quality care here is excellent as is the staff. I will definitely be back and would recommend him if you’re looking for an endocrinologist who is kind and takes the time to explain things to you.

The waiting room and office felt very bleak and ramshackle. The nurse was on the phone the whole time she was taking my blood pressure, and was simultaneously taking medical notes on a napkin. It was not a very personable, comfortableor professional environment. The doctor himself was fine, though he neglected to tell me some information I needed for a lab test I had to get, which led to me showing up unprepared and having to rebook the lab test. I got what I needed but it wasn't a pleasant or smooth experience.

The doctor was very knowledgable, professional and kind. He took the time to answer all of my questions and explain to me my condition and my labs. I was very impressed with him and the rest of the staff. I arrivedexactly at the time of my appointment and was seen within a half hour. Also, they are located at Interfaith hospital so it’s easy to find parking.

The worst physician ever. Is very easily distracted, mumbles gibberish and keeps forgetting the tests he ordered and the results that he has to go through. His front office staff are really nice and patient however!

I moved from out-of-state and needed a new endocrinologist, and most of all i wanted a refill on my thyroid meds. dr. deribe asked what dose i was taking. when i told him, he said "really? why? at that low doseyou probably don't even need to be taking any thyroid meds." i was diagnosed and treated by UNC Hospitals for years, and this dose worked for me. i was shocked that he would just wave away my meds. then, he tested my thyroid levels--but i explained to him that i had taken thyroid meds just yesterday, so the tests weren't going to reflect my thyroid problems, because the thyroid meds were still in my system. i was supposed to call him back when i had gotten the records from my old endocrinologist, but i was put off that he didn't want to listen to me.

I saw the DR as a new patient. I've had my thyroid disorder for about 2 years and I wanted a complete new opinion from a new dr. He only sat with me for about 4 mins asking me minimal questionsand rushed me out the office (I was the last patient of the day) He then called me to tell me my thyroid wasn't controlled (which I already knew) He asked for the notes from my old dr. I told him I wanted a complete new diagnosis from him. He said "if you're not going to listen to me find yourself a new Dr" just like that and hung up.

It was the most frustrating and horrible experienced I have had at a Doctor's office. He avoided anything I said to him in regards of my symptoms. Never did he apologize for the two hour wait. It was beyond ridicolous.

Dr. Deribe is very old, so he forgets things he says during the appointment. He does not look at your lab results in details. I had to point out to the numbers mentioning that this number does not look good. Iwent to two appointment, hoping the next one would be better, but that was waste of my time. He is also very focused on calling you depressed than actually focusing on your medical symptoms. He kept telling me that my headaches are due to stress ( which i kept telling him that I don't have any). It turned out, I have a tumor.

This is the most unprofessional and rude Doctor I have encountered. I ended up leaving in the middle of the appointment due to rudeness. When I arrived the attendant was very sweet and assisted me with getting signed in. She assuredme that I would be seen promptly. True to her word, the doctor called me in less than an hour. I sat in his office and he asked why I was there. I explained my medical condition and he then asked about the pathology and I stated I did not have it but the surgeon should. Then he mixed up the recommendation from the surgeon and the referral from my practitioner and tried to call the wrong number. I asked him if he had read all the paperwork or if needed time to review everything because I was not in a rush. He stated I have read it all. He called for the pathology to be faxed to his office. As we waited I asked him about my blood work results that I had provided, he said there was nothing of interest. I told him I notice my cholestorol was higher than last time and there was an acronym at the top I didn't understand. He said that intrepretting my blood was not his job and not important. I tried to talk with him about how I should monitor my diet and what I had already been monitoring and he stated that there was no need to because food has no effect on anything. He then asked what medications I was taking. I asked why he keep asking questions that I had answered in detail on the paperwork. He stated he was in charge and I just supposed answer his questions and not asking him a bunch of stuff. I told him that I need to leave because he had clearly not read my paperwork and didn't seem to care about me or my condition. He said this is his office and I was not to give him any critiques. I immediately called ZocDoc to alert them of the situation and made sure to cancel all future appointments with him.

I had a 10 o clock appt it's now 12:35 and I'm yet to be seen ... To make matters worse he woman who came AFTER me was seen BEFORE ME! Like I don't understand . Never In my life Havea waited so long to see a doctor. I am livid! If not for the fact that I've already invested 2 and a half hours of my life already I woulda walked out . The irony is when I walked in the waiting room was packed and I went to the receptionist and said I'll just reschedule I don't have hours to be sitting around. She said" no, you'll be in and out. He works fast blah blah blah" If this is fast id hate to see slow. I mean fair is fair. I was here first we all have things we wanna do on a Saturday and Come on! Pick up the pace. As a doctor it's very unprofessional. You show up an hour late and on top of that I have to wait 3 hours to be seen!?

First time I saw him I was running late. I was the last patient for the evening and he waited up for me for more than an hour past my apt which I thought was very nice and extremely rare. Hewas very thorough in his analysis and very professional. His nurses were very nice. They even tried to cheer me up. All in all I had a good experience and will definitely recommend him to others.
