Dr. Vertus is a very kind, very knowledgeable, and very professional gentleman. His staff was very friendly. He's a wonderfully old school doctor. He spends time with you, listens, and is helpful. A rare gem in NYC.

Really appreciated the doc and his assistant. They took time to explain things and make sure I was comfortable. I didn't mind the wait since I was also serviced in a timely manner. Permanent doctor!

I asked for a pregnancy test and did not get my results today. Everytime I go to the clinic I get pregnancy test results same day.. For Std testing results , he told me I have to wait 2 weeks for results when it's usually one week.

Provided with acceptable level of care from Dr. Vertus while transitioning between providers, would likely return again if I find myself in similar circumstances in the future, but only temporarily and only if necessary.

Worst doctors office I’ve ever been to. Waited TWO WEEKS and never got my prescription. The doctor thinks the government is watching us both. Oh yea after a week he sent a one day supply! Literally 30cc of a medication, then refused to send the rest. What a joke.

I called to see if I could come in a few hours early and they said sure. I waited for 2 hours to be seen for 7 mins. The administrative staff had no personality, office is extremely small and the slotthat you can pass papers through (the plastic screen that separates us from them) is EXTREMELY small. I couldn’t even fit my fingers through it. The doctor was nice and personable. I would like to keep him as my doctor but the wait time was too long. Their hours aren’t convenient either. They open late on Monday and are not open for 2-3 more days in the week i believe.

I really enjoyed my visit. The wait time was minimal and both Dr. Vertus and the lovely nurse practitioner were very attentive and eager to learn about my medical history, as well as performing my annual physical! I highly recommend thispractice and love how close to the train station the office is!

Worst doctor I’ve ever been to. I went to get a 2 prescriptions refilled and decided to go here cause reviews were decent and it was near where I was living at the time and I didn’t want to go allthe way to the city. He made me take an EKG heart test and said it was mandatory and didn’t tell me that it would be an additional charge . I had pretty basic prescriptions and I’ve never had to do this for any doctor for my first visit. The guy who performed the test made me take my shirt off and was really uncomfortable shaking sticking the wires in my chest area which made me super uncomfortable. He then said he couldn’t give me my prescriptions but told me to wait and then eventually said he could do it ??? Then he said my prescriptions wouldn’t go through because I have too many prescriptions pending while he was trying to digitally send it to my pharmacy. The page was just loading .... and he said it wasn’t the page loading but the government watching me. It eventually went through my pharmacy after the page loaded ... I get 2 prescriptions a month .... Usually when I visit a doctor for a refill it takes an hour max - this was a 3 hour visit from hell and one of the strangest experiences I’ve ever had

Dr. Vertus had an upsettingly bad bedside manner. I was asking for any sort of a recommendation or a referral since his answer was a shrug of the shoulders to the chronic issue I've been having. He was dismissive to my issue.

I read the reviews so I was prepared when I went to my appointment but Dr. Vertus' bedside manner could use improvement. He didn't give indications of what he was about to do, he simply moved from one thing to another.Rather than tell me he's going to check my blood pressure, he walked over, picked up my arm, and pulled up my sleeve. I almost got the flu shot which I didn't want. If I hadn't asked what it was, he would've given it to me. To take my blood, his didn't wear gloves or wash his hands at any point while I was in the room. My second appointment was just as annoying. I had to return in two days for my results and to retrieve paperwork which he insisted on keeping. I got to my appointment 30 minutes late to find that he hadn't filled out any of it as yet. After waiting almost an hour to see him, I waited some more while he filled out the paperwork. There wasn't any information he needed from me, therefore I didn't need to be present while that was done. By far, my most unpleasant experience with a doctor.

Dr. Vertus has excellent bedside manners. He is calm and kind, and he will listen to all you have to say about whatever is bothering you before asking you questions, doing your checkup and making a diagnosis. Today, I was larticularlyanxious during my visit, but he was kind and accommodating and I felt like he cared and wanted to help me. I highly recommend him

TL;DR: SERIOUSLY, DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR (especially if you are a woman). I disregarded all of the negative reviews out of convenience for a doctor that was within 20 mins that took my health insurance because I felt too sickto travel any further. I showed up sweating from fever from what I presume is a bronchial infection (I still do not know after this appointment in spite of him prescribing me an antibiotic that has insane side effects and is also used to treat “plague” according to WHO). In spite of telling him that my symptoms were a cough deep in my lungs, a fever, and vomiting, Dr. Vertus only continually asked me about my menses and drug use. He proceeded to say that “women get anemia from their menses” and pulled out a giant looking needle from an unsanitary looking, ripped open plastic bag that had a layer of dust on top of it to suddenly take my blood, which in spite of my fevered state I adamantly refused because I honestly did not trust the sanitation level in that office (hallway reeked of cat urine, dirt in the corners and on the countertops with medical supplies). He also told me numerous times to “stop sweating and just relax” and that there was “no need to be anxious” as though I was sweating out of female nervousness or hysteria instead of the fever that I was coming to his office for in the first place. And when he took my blood pressure after I refused the blood test he squeezed my arm so hard it was like he was punishing me for questioning his opinion. At the end, I said “so is it acute bronchitis?” and he nonchalantly said “yes ...” with no explanation as though he wasn’t even sure of his diagnosis (he did not take any tests of my phlegm and only took extremely minimal external tests that a child could do: took my fever, blood pressure, merely glanced at the inside of my mouth). I am fortunate to say that this is the most traumatizing doctor’s office appointment that I’ve had in my life - I can’t imagine how many other women he’s convinced that their “menses” or “anxiety” are to blame. Now I am taking the antibiotic he prescribed because I am on a tight budget as a nonprofit employee, but its side effects include (all permanent) Central Nervous System damage, kidney damage, tendon damage, and psychosis, so I am honestly just hoping I haven’t permanently screwed my body over by taking this cheap, easy route. I typically do not write reviews but I wanted to provide a sincere caveat to whoever reads this to not do the same. Lastly, upon looking at his surprising amount of positive reviews, they seem very oddly written in an eerily similar/formal way — and certainly provide a confusing juxtaposition with his many 1 star reviews that mirror my bad experience (I conjecture that they are fake, but obviously can’t claim to know this). A truly worrisome loophole through zocdoc if these are somehow fabricated (I have otherwise been very lucky with zocdoc so far though).

Dr. Vertus is a great doctor - and very attentive. I was actually frustrated when I left. He refused to prescribe a different antibiotic (he had prescribed a z-pak for my sinus infection). I was anxious that the antibiotic wasn't workingbecause my symptoms weren't going away. But, he exercised caution and told me to give the antibiotic more time. I'm glad he did -- eventually the symptoms subsided.

I went in because I had flu-like symptoms like fatigue, sinus pressure, dizziness, and nausea. When I got called back to the room, he and his assistant stood around me and asked a series of seemingly normal questions, even though hedid ask me if I took recreational drugs more than two or three time, as if he didn't believe me when I told him no. Then he started asking me vague questions about my mental health history and I told him I see a therapist, at which point he got very silent, turned to his partner shook his head, then turned back to me and started asking me a series of questions that I'm pretty sure he's not qualified to do.He asked me if I was depressed, or if I ever saw a neurologist to see if I was depressed, and if I have problems in my personal life (and that if I did I have to tell him otherwise he can't treat me). At one point he told me he was going to take my blood and I didn't really trust him, as he could not answer why he wanted to take my blood. He asked me if I wanted him to call an ambulance for me because "I did not look like a normal person" but couldn't explain how so. I told him that's why I came to him, and asked him if he thought it seemed like the flu... His examination consisted of roughly turning my head to both sides, pressing repeatedly on my sinuses even after I told him it definitely hurt, shining a light in my eyes after I told him my eyes were sensitive to light, and asking me if I took drugs or if I had problems in my personal life. He then wrote me a prescription (he did not tell me what it was, or what it was for). I asked if it was the flu, and he said "yeah it's a combination of things like that. like sinusitis." Then I left.

I don't recommend. I used to see him but last time he gave me unclear instructions on my antibiotics which led me to taking them incorrectly. When I called to clarify he was angry at me and didn't clarify at all;left me and the pharmacist to guess what he meant. Also he once randomly took my blood for "testing" and never gave me the results. Got angry when I asked about them at my next appt.
