Hi there, I'm Alesha!
I am Alesha Smith, LCSW licensed clinical social worker in the state of Florida with 27 years of experience as a clinical therapist. My clinical style is personable, engaging, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, dignity, compassion, and without judgement.
My approach
Treatment approaches are client centered and solution focused including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT). My goal is to empower and motivate toward goal attainment, accentuate personal strengths, and maximize potential with care and compassion. Sessions are tailored to meet unique and specific needs with emphasis on beginning where you are and working toward where you are most comfortable.
My focus
I serve adults ages 18 and older to address a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, communication, anger management, caring for a loved one, and life transitions. Virtual individual therapy services are private and confidential.
My communication style
Honest sharing and active listening enhances understanding of experiences and their impact on daily life functioning. Education and skill building are foundations for guiding therapeutic work. Daily practice in between sessions is vital for practical application with real life situations. All concerns are addressed with an open, nonjudgemental and objective mind.
My journey to therapy
Early in life, I learned that my experiences and the experiences of others can positively or negatively impact my future. I began to understand that I can actually learn and apply lessons from the experience for a healthier outcome. In other words, I was my own obstacle, and realizing that I had options and alternatives was a game changer. Assisting others with finding healthier ways to cope and overcome challenges by choosing healthier options is my passion. The benefits of continuous growth is invaluable.
