My name is Alyssa. I am a therapist, but before that I am an imperfect person that has been on a continual healing journey herself. This therapist sees a therapist. My personal and professional experiences leave me with the knowledge that people have layers. I will sit with you in your emotions and peel back these layers with you. Feeling heard and seen in itself is healing.
I live in Western North Carolina with my sweet husky, Audrey. I enjoy spending time outside and foraging. I hope to incorporate nature more into my work in the future.
I have a Master’s of Social Work from Western Carolina University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (C012961) in the state of North Carolina.
My work has taken place in schools, communities, homes, and hospitals. I have worked with people requiring intensive outpatient services as well as those needing crisis services and inpatient psychiatric care. I have experience working with a diverse variety of children, adolescents, and adults. I am especially passionate about working with those struggling with self-worth, depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment, and parenting.
I have training in several different therapy modalities, but most enjoy working with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My practice is informed by Strengths-based Perspective, Feminist Theory and Attachment Theory. Other modalities I am trained in include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Community Advocacy Project (CAP), Skillstreaming, The Zones of Regulation, and Community Resiliency Model (CRM).
