Psychotherapist
OH
Hi there, I'm Valerie! My sessions tend to be a blend of trauma-informed care and auntie wisdom. You will learn more about the underlying contributors to those things that are bothering you while trying to figure out how to change them. My approach Sometimes it takes a different point of view to help a person see that there is a different outcome or possibility. It is my job to clear the way for someone to see what those opportunities are. Sometimes it is easier than other times. My focus Ideally, I like to work with those who want to change what is causing them pain. When they realize that the pain of doing nothing is worse than doing something different, then that is the person that I want to work with. My communication style I am a direct and to-the-point kind of communicator. You will know where you stand at all times, but a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down! My journey to mental healthcare I wanted to help children since I was a child, and my friend was being abused and had no safe place to turn. I went to college to be a veterinarian, but that did not work out, so this is where I stand today. My goals for you The best way to help clients reach goals is to make sure they are realistic and that the goals are theirs in the first place. Sometimes people take on the goals that other people have for them. My first session with you I need to get a thorough assessment before moving forward.
