We hurt in relationships, and we heal in relationships. In her work with individuals, they can explore one's strengths and challenges in the context of relationships. A transformation can begin by becoming self-aware and taking responsibility of current relational, behavioral, and thinking patterns that often stem from oppressed and dysfunctional systems and traumatic experiences. Working with families, Katie can help by focusing on identifying and changing maladaptive patterns of interactions that are keeping families stuck and hurting. Her goal is to help family members learn to better care and nurture one another by making necessary changes to improve the entire system. With couples, Katie works from an emotionally focused model drawing on attachment theory.
