Hi there, I'm Anthony!
Anthony J. Piro Jr., LICSW. I am a clinician who uses an eclectic approach to help clients manage current concerns and understand the drivers of their behavior to enable recovery. My primary practice areas are affective (mood) and anxiety disorders, as well as managing stress, anger, and other strong feelings in personal and professional relationships.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is eclectic, combining Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal, and family systems methods. I work on real solutions for present conflicts and on understanding causes of distress to promote recovery.
My focus
I work with adults facing a full range of life difficulties. I am comfortable with clients 18+ and with various diagnostic issues, including mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
My communication style
I am an open and approachable clinician who values direct and honest communication. I aim to make sessions feel like a "conversation," allowing for a relaxed and comfortable exchange. Working with me feels like discussing with a trusted advisor who offers genuine concern and warmth.
My journey to mental healthcare
My interest in human struggles began with my first Psychology course as an undergraduate. Over time, I became passionate about the social, psychological, economic, familial, and professional forces shaping people and how I could be a "change agent." This led me to pursue graduate education in Social Work at Simmons University, a field I believed would prepare me to help others with these complex forces.
