I then obtained my Master of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology and Counseling from Saint Elizabeth University. While in graduate school, I was a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society, and I am currently a member of the American Counseling Association. After receiving my Master’s degree, I decided to further my education and pursue two postgraduate certifications at Montclair State University in Alcohol and Drug Counseling and Advanced Counseling.
In my years of experience, I have worked with clients from a wide variety of diverse cultural backgrounds. My recent experience was working in an intensive outpatient program with clients who had drug or alcohol addictions and various co-occurring disorders. In addition, while there, I provided individual therapy and facilitated counseling as well as psychoeducational groups focusing on a range of different topics.
Philosophy of Counseling:
I believe that having a collaborative, strong therapeutic relationship brings positive therapy outcomes. My therapy approach begins with building rapport with the client and creating a supportive, authentic, non-judgmental, and comfortable atmosphere where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, in which I utilize a person-centered approach. For me, it’s about providing motivation and encouragement to clients, knowing that they can achieve their goals and find purpose in their life. I also help clients establish new healthy patterns of behavior, increasing their self-awareness and understanding.
