Berdetta Plaxico is a licensed mental health counselor who has years of experience providing individual and family counseling and believes therapy is really about whatever the client needs, such as a one-time conversation, a temporary source of support during a life transition, or ongoing support to optimize one’s overall health.
I have always had the innate ability to connect with others from all walks of life and coming from a family of educators provided me with the passion for wanting to help others. My past work and volunteer experience in leadership roles and counseling LGBTQAI+ communities, juvenile justice-involved youth, children, adolescents, and adults has helped me become an empathetic, caring, and nonjudgmental therapist. I believe therapy should be part of our self-care routine, which includes exercising, eating healthy, and vacationing, to maintain good health and wellness.
I am a lifelong learner and enjoy reading books, doing research, and listening to therapeutic podcasts for professional development. I also purchase material that can equip me with innovative ideas, interventions, and various therapeutic approaches to help my clients grow and heal.
I am extremely excited about the continually evolving method of telehealth and the flexibility it provides for clients to receive therapy from the comfort of their homes.
