MI
Hi there, I'm Beverly! Hi, my name is Beverly Gibson. I am licensed in Michigan with more than 10 years of professional experience. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps toward change. I am here to support and empower you on that journey. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, coping with life changes, women’s issues, self-esteem building, stress, aging and geriatric issues, and work with veterans. My approach In therapy sessions, I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered therapy, strength-based therapy, reminiscence therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. My focus I work with adults only, ages 20 and older. Recently, I have been doing a lot of work with older adults over the age of 55. My communication style My communication style is casual; I want my clients to feel comfortable talking about their mental health concerns. My journey to mental healthcare My goal in becoming a therapist was a desire to work for people who care about other people. I spent several years in corporate before I switched careers, and I know for certain that my purpose in life is exactly what I’m doing now. I enjoy the work and the results of therapy. My goals for you Therapy is, of course, person-centered, so I work with clients to set goals that are important to them and goals they are comfortable with, at a pace that makes them feel both comfortable and challenged. My first session with you During our first session, the goal is to build rapport, establish trust, help you feel comfortable with the process, and set goals for our therapeutic sessions.
