“Bienvenido, Welcome! My approach to expressive mediums in the therapy space is to support personal expression of concepts we simply may not have words for. Creative expression through visual, musical, movement and drama mediums is a way for us to explore our personal symbols and resonance with aspects of ourselves that we sometimes are not consciously aware of; this external expression in a therapy setting allows for a witness to be present to help support us in remembering our inner knowing. The use of these creative modalities can help us to integrate the many facets of ourselves, connect in meaningful ways with our own creativity, build our self-esteem and self-awareness, as well as foster the ability to more clearly communicate our needs and wants with ourselves and those around us. You need not personally identify as an artist of any kind for these techniques to be helpful, each of us has our own expressive medium and all mediums are welcome in working with me; part of the journey is us determining what is your creative medium! I enjoy allowing others to explore a wide variety of materials that may include textiles, found objects, upcycled products, and more traditional mediums of drawing, painting, collage and sculpture. I welcome exploration of non visual mediums through the use of improvised instruments, our body as an instrument both musically and kinesthetically, role play or re enactment of important themes discovered in sessions, creative writing and any other form of expression you can imagine! In addition to working with creative expression I incorporate mindfulness, somatic practice and eclectic traditional talk therapy practices into sessions. I have training and experience in CT-R, DBT and safety based counseling for PTSD.You will always be the master of your path to healing and I look forward to co-creating the space for you to stand in your power and walk on your path.”
