Psychotherapist

Do you feel like your mind is constantly somewhere else, replaying the past, worrying about the future, or getting caught in cycles of overthinking that make it hard to be present? Anxiety and depression can pull us away from ourselves, making everyday moments feel overwhelming. I believe therapy is not about “fixing” who you are. You are already worthy, enough, and deserving exactly as you are. My role is to help you better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck so you can move through life with more self-compassion and intention. I work collaboratively with clients navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, procrastination, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and difficulties feeling connected to themselves or others. My approach is grounded in mindfulness and draws from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices, while always tailoring our work to your unique goals and experiences. Together, we’ll build practical tools to manage difficult emotions, challenge negative thought patterns, and stay grounded in the present moment. Therapy with me is a space where you can show up honestly, feel supported without judgment, and move toward a version of life that feels more authentic to who you are.

Getting to know Carolyn Chadwick

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. I want therapy to feel like a space where you don’t have to pretend you have everything figured out or explain away your emotions. My style is thoughtful and engaged. I’ll help you slow down and notice patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while also offering practical skills you can use outside of sessions. I tend to integrate mindfulness into the work because so many people spend their lives either stuck in the past or bracing for the future, and healing often starts with learning how to reconnect to the present moment. I’m trained in DBT through Columbia School of Social Work and also draw from CBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based techniques. That said, I don’t believe therapy should feel overly rigid or one-size-fits-all. Some sessions may focus on processing emotions and exploring deeper experiences, while others may be more skill-based and solution-focused depending on what you need that day. Above all, I want you to feel seen and empowered in the process. Your goals, values, and experiences matter, and our work together will be shaped around what feels meaningful and supportive to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions are usually focused on getting to know you. We'll discuss the challenges bringing you to therapy, but also who you are outside of those struggles. We’ll talk about what has been feeling difficult, what patterns you may be noticing, and what you hope will change. From there, we’ll begin identifying the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or experiences that may be keeping you feeling stuck. Together, we’ll explore how these patterns show up in your day-to-day life and practice ways to respond to them differently. Sessions are conversational, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. Some days we may focus on building concrete coping strategies for anxiety, emotional regulation, or negative thinking. Other times, we may spend more time reflecting on relationships, identity, self-esteem, or life transitions. I often incorporate mindfulness and grounding techniques to help clients feel more connected to themselves and the present moment. My goal is not to tell you who to be or what choices to make. I want to help you build greater resilience and trust in yourself so you can move through life with more clarity.
