Dr. Christine Lew has been practicing physical therapy since September 2019 after graduating from Rutgers University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. She first became interested in pursuing it as a career when she was in high school and saw her dad getting physical therapy (PT) after straining his hamstring during a softball game. She loved the positive environment and the endless support that her dad received from his therapist. In addition, Christine valued the importance of staying active throughout her childhood years being involved in gymnastics, swimming, and pole vaulting. After graduating high school, Christine attended Stony Brook University on Long Island, where she volunteered at various PT practices, with one of them being at a research lab that focused on gait training with patients who experienced a spinal cord injury. Additionally, she became a teacher’s assistant for a Medical Terminology course, was part of a cultural ballroom dance team, and volunteered with Students Helping Honduras to help build schools in impoverished villages in Honduras. Christine graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science and went on to pursue her DPT at Rutgers University. During her clinical internships, she worked in acute care, outpatient, and subacute settings, in addition to providing lymphedema therapy with a Certified Lymphedema Specialist and providing aquatic therapy in a therapeutic pool. As a student, she also provided pro-bono PT evaluations and treatments to people within the Newark community while being supervised by a licensed physical therapist. After graduating with her DPT degree, Christine worked at a small, family owned PT practice in Lyndhurst where she became the head PT at her location and provided guidance to a newly graduated PT and other staff members. In her free time, she loves to hike, travel, do photography, and try new food.
