Hi there, I'm Claudia!
Hello, my name is Claudia Zuniga and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am based out of Long Beach, California. I have worked with adults, teens, and children. I have experience in working with clients suffering from anxiety, stress, depression, and trauma.
My approach
My approach to therapy will depend on your needs. I like to get to know my clients, understand the challenges they are facing and work in collaboration with them to formulate a goal. I pull from different approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, solution focused, and trauma focused therapy. When working with teens or children I like to include parents in treatment in order to improve communication, relationships, decrease conflicts, and to help educate the parent on how to be a support throughout the adolescent's treatment.
My focus
My style and approach to therapy works well with adults or teens that are dealing with challenges in managing their emotions, stress, and controlling their responses. This may take the form of anxiety, anger, impulsivity, depression, stress or problems with relationships. I also work with children and parents to improve relationships, decrease defiant behavior, and to help parents assist their children in feeling safe and secure after a traumatic event.
My communication style
I want my clients to feel comfortable enough to discuss anything without feeling judged. I take my time to listen and to really understand what my clients are going through before interrupting or making suggestions. I pride myself in being honest and authentic in sessions.
