Getting to know Devera Jackson-Garber

I am a Queer, Black Woman with over 38 years of experience in the mental health field and healing. I began my career in 1986 as a Registered Music Therapist and later transitioned to working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist after obtaining licensure in 2002. I also hold a Master's in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. I have worked with a wide range of clients, from preschool-aged children to seniors and elders, across multiple settings. I specialize in helping Black Womxn (cis, nonbinary, trans) and LGBTQ+ folx recover from trauma. I absolutely love supporting folx to move past barriers so they can live their fulfilled and desired lives. I am deeply honored by the beauty within each person and seek to create an environment that nurtures that beauty and joy to manifest. Using EMDR, music, art, writing, play, mindfulness, self-love and community-care practices, and a strengths-based, collaborative approach, my work highlights opportunities for people to see themselves as so much more than what has happened to them. I support folx in tapping into lives that are both expansive and grounded.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
